GAME RESULTS
Weekend of October 6 - 8
The Mytes showed they have learned the meaning of teamwork as they came together despite injury, illness and scorching heat to extend their winning steak to 8 games. A fumble recovery by Yolanda Scarlato put an end to the TwinCities first drive. Stefano Campagnolo led his own drive down the field and topped it off with a converted touchdown. Simon Black led the defense with a QB sack and strong tackling be Jesse Durant-Cooper caused a turnover on downs on the Bison’s final play of the game. Final scores were 19-14 in the game against TwinCities and 13-12 against Brantford. Mytes have a winning record of 11-1-2.
Weekend of September 29 - 30
The Guelph Bears Mytes struggled during the first quarter in their game against Brantford Bisons after losing lineman Mino Fasil who suffered an arm injury on the opening kickoff. Jesse Durant-Cooper, Sam Mollison and Yolanda Scarlato stepped it up to help keep Brantford out of the backfield. After stopping the Bisons first run, Jack St. Hilaire ran 25 yards for a touchdown. A Bison fumble, recovered by Brandon Ferigo led to a TD by St. Hilaire with an extra point by Stef Campagnolo. A final TD by Dakota Brown secured a win with a score of 19-6.
The Bears were unstoppable in their game against the TwinCities Firehawks. The Bears defense, including Nick Burnett, Matheson Duff and Isaiah Khan, worked together to stop the Firehawks, only allowing one converted touchdown. St. Hilaire and Brown each had 70 yard runs for touchdowns. Campagnolo kicked a conversion and also ran 50 yards to make a TD saving tackle. Another TD by St. Hilaire and the game was won 19-7. The Mytes have won their last 6 games and have a first place 9-1-2 record.
Weekend of September 22 - 23
The Guelph Myte Bears were victorious again despite being forced to play Ironman football due to their limited roster. Multiple tackles by Mino Fasil, Dakota Brown, Sam Mollison, Jesse Durant-Cooper and Jack St Hilaire kept the TwinCities first downs to a minimum. Great blocking on the offensive line by Matheson Duff, Nick Burnett and Simon Black kept TC FireHawks out of the backfield long enough for the offence to make plays. Two touchdowns by Brandon Ferigo and one by Brown brought the final score to 18-12.
The defense did not rest in their next game against the Brantford Bison, only allowing one score. A fumble by Brantford on the opening drive was recovered by Nick Burnett. A seven play march down the field ended in a TD by St. Hilaire capped off by an extra point by Stefano Campagnolo. Touchdowns by Brown and a 55 yard QB keep by St. Hilaire put the game out of reach for the Bisons with a final score of 19-6.
Weekend of September 15-16
The Guelph Bears Myte team had another successful weekend after coming out on top of both games. A tough Bears’ defence fronted by Mino Fasil and assisted by multiple tackles in the backfield by Brandon Townsend, helped to stop the Bisons in their tracks.
A touchdown by Jack St. Hilaire, a pair of TDs by Brandon Ferigo and a final TD by Dakota Brown brought the game out of reach for the Brantford Bisons. Two conversions by Stefano Campagnolo brought the final score to 26-0.
In their game against the Twin City Firehawks, St. Hilaire ran for a 60 yard TD on the Bear’s first possession. Ferigo had a 56 yard run for a TD and Brown had 2 TDs with a combined run of 120 yards. An extra point by Campagnolo and the Bears dominated again with a score of 25-7.
Weekend of September 8-9
The Guelph Bears Myte team battled the elements in their first loss of the season. Heavy rains and wind made if difficult for both teams to hold onto the ball. Key blocking on the weak side of the line by Sam Mollison and Simon Black helped to hold the TwinCities Firehawks to only 1 converted TD for a final score of 7-0.
The rain and the Bears were unrelenting for their second game against the Brantford Bisons. Dakota Brown ran in for a touchdown on the Bear’s first series of the game.
Jack St. Hilaire and Stephano Campagnolo scored two touchdowns each with Campagnolo also completing 3 conversions. Bear’s QB Brandon Ferigo also filled in for an ailing defensive lineman Mino Fasil and came up with multiple QB sacks. Critical tackles by Nick Burnett and Jesse Durant-Cooper helped the Bears dominate with a 33-6 win against the Bisons.
